This is a composite photo as the images were taken through an 8" Meade LX200 telescope (Canon EOS 20D) and the images had to be stitched together to form a complete image. You can easily note how the shadow of the earth on the moon's surface is jagged a bit where the photos were joined - that's how much the shadow moved over the surface between photos.
